Medicap franchisee receives national award

Ben Tally Jr. of Medicap Pharmacy in Cape Girardeau was recently honored at the national annual corporate meeting by being named to the President's Club. The award is presented to Medicap franchisees who represent the top 20 percent of the nationwide system by store sales during the past fiscal year.

Cape accountant attends tax conference

William R. Schott, CPA, and managing partner of Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants, recently completed a weeklong conference on federal tax issues. Among those issues were business tax developments, financial statement analysis for decision making and preparing for health-care coverage.

Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau recently named Wendy Alcorn as the new director of nursing. She was previously assistant director of nursing and staff development at Life Care Center of Ocala, Fla.

Southeast names human resources director

James Cook has been named director of human resources at Southeast Missouri State University. Cook is currently director of human resources at Maytag Corp. in Newton, Iowa. He will begin at Southeast on Sept. 30.

Whitewater man gets rookie of month award

District representative with Modern Woodmen of America Phillip Fluchel of Whitewater was recently named August Rookie of the Month in the Missouri East Agency. Fluchel, who joined the team in June, leads all agents of fewer than three years tenure in production.

Local law firm adds associate

The law firm of Bradshaw, Steele, Cochrane and Berens, L.C., recently announced that Sarah Snider has joined the firm as an associate. She received her law degree from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kan.
