Tamms lineman goes to school in Springfield

Courtney Woodson of Tamms, Ill., a temporary apprentice lineman with Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative in Dongola, Ill., was instructed on his climbing skills during an electrical lineman climbing school held April 11 to 22 at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill. The school, which was held by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives, was part of a two-week training program that demonstrated electric pole climbing, electrical theory and safety techniques.

President nominated for ethics award

Gerry Driskell, president of Gerdan Slipforming Inc. in Cape Girardeau, has been nominated for the American Business Ethics Award. The American Business Ethics Award began in 1995 by the Society of Financial Service Professionals. The award recognizes ethical companies in two categories: small, under 100 employees, and medium, 100 to 250 employees. A customer, vendor or competitor can nominate a company. A three-judge panel decides the winner in each category. The winner of the local competition is placed in competition at the national level. The winners will be announced at a luncheon May 20.

Real estate agent gets President's Club Award

Teresa Pullum, a real estate sales associate with RE/MAX Achievers in Cape Girardeau, has received the President's Club Award from RE/MAX International. The award is based on commissions earned in 2004. Pullum has been a Realtor for three years with RE/MAX Achievers. RE/MAX International, based in Denver, oversees a network of independently owned and operated offices.
