Big River Broadband of Farmington, Mo., recently announced the winner of its first "This Is Big" video contest and the $2,500 first place prize. Bryan Schilligo of Cape Girardeau and his team won first place for their video "Stuck in the Past" after receiving the most votes in the final round of the competition. The video highlights the new and advanced broadband spectrum that Big River Broadband is deploying across a seven-county region in Southeast Missouri. The contest theme was to have community members create a video, no more than one minute in length, explaining what the phrase "This Is Big" means to them. Since the contest began Jan. 15, 46 videos were submitted and more than 75,000 votes were cast. Each week in March brought another elimination vote-off as Big River narrowed from 46 videos, to 10 videos, then down to six videos, then three and finally down to the top video.
