Adams joins Jackson banking branch

Marvin Adams Jr. is now a commercial lender at the US Bank branch office in Jackson. He previously worked at the Cape Girardeau location. Adams joined the bank in 2002. He is a business graduate of the University of Mississippi and Jackson High School. He and his wife, Kimberly, have a son.

SEMO professor wins humanitarian award

Dr. I. Sue Shepard, interim dean of the College of Education at Southeast Missouri State University, will be awarded a humanitarian honor at an upcoming conference. Shepard will receive the Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award Thursday at the American Association of School Administrators annual conference. The award recognizes members who display the qualities espoused by Jones, a champion of women and minorities in educational leadership. Dr. Ron Anderson, superintendent of Jackson schools, nominated Shepard for the award.

Alliance Bank announces new senior vice president

Jim Ham has joined Alliance Bank as senior vice president and senior lender. He has 25 years of experience in banking and served as operations manager for the former First Federal Savings and Loan. He was a credit administration manager for Boatmen's Bank and a commercial loan officer with US Bank. Alliance Bank is based in Cape Girardeau with branches in Sikeston and Oran. New bank headquarters are under construction on North Kingshighway.

Wound Healing Center director earns honor

Jim Lawrence, director of the Wound Healing Center at St. Francis Medical Center, has been named National Healing Corp.'s Program Director of the Year. Lawrence received the award during the corporation's annual meeting held in Fort Lauderdale. The National Healing Corporation operates more than 50 wound care and hyperbaric treatment facilities throughout the United States. The St. Francis Wound Healing Center previously won the National Healing Corp.'s 2002 Outstanding New Center Award.

Wound Center staff receives certification

Three staff members of the Wound Healing Center at St. Francis Medical Center have been certified in hyperbaric medicine. Staff members receiving the national certification are Jim Lawrence, Marlene Lyon and Angie Parks. With the additional staff certifications, the wound center is the only one in the area with all its eligible staff technicians certified as hyperbaric nurses.
