Dr. Laura E. Holmes, family practitioner with Saint Francis Medical Center, completed the American Board of Preventive Medicine certifying examination for Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, making her the third physician in Missouri to receive this certification. As part of the certification, Holmes has two years' practice in hyperbaric medicine and completed a 12-month full-time fellowship during which 25 percent of her time was dedicated to hyperbaric medicine cases. In hyperbaric oxygen therapy, patients with severe tissue damage from wounds are exposed to 100 percent oxygen at increased atmospheric pressures.
