Green new president of First Community Bank

Steven Green has been announced as the president of Cape Girardeau's First Community Bank. Green's position was effective Jan. 8.

Green has 15 years of commercial banking experience in the Cape Girardeau area as the former vice president of commercial lending for Union Planters Bank. Green is a native of Sikeston, Mo., and a 1982 graduate of Sikeston High School. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a 1986 graduate with a degree in business education with a major in finance.

Green will maintain a temporary quarters during the building construction of the First Community Bank, now under way at 17. S. Mount Auburn Road. First Community Bank, with assets of $175 million, has locations in Poplar Bluff, Bernie, Malden and Campbell.

Cape men appointed to Bank of Missouri board

Jim Maurer and Jim Hillin, both of Cape Girardeau, have been recently appointed to the board of directors of Reliable Community Bancshares Inc., the holding company for the Bank of Missouri.

Both men served as community bank directors for the local Bank of Missouri board before being appointed to Reliable Community Bancshares Inc.

Maurer is a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He is co-owner and financial officer of PAJCO Inc., Rhodes 101 Stops. He also serves on the board of directors for Missouri Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores, is a trust director for the Fuel Marketers Insurance Trust and is a member of the SEMO Booster Club and Notre Dame Booster Club.

Hillin has been a certified public accountant with Hillin and Clark, P.C., since 1969. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accounts and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the Salvation Army Advisory board and is a member of the SEMO Booster Club.

Volkerding joins Ford Funeral Home

Kenneth Volkerding has joined Ford Funeral Home, selling preneed policies and planning services. Volkerding recently retired from Lutheran Brotherhood after selling life, health and securities products for 22 years. In his career there, he was consistently a top producer.

Medical administrator appointed to board

Sarah Holt, administrator of the Cape Girardeau Surgical Clinic, has been appointed to the American College of Medical Practice Board. This group is the standard-setting and certification board of the Medical Group Management Association.

Holt was involved in starting the local MGMA chapter in the early 1990s, along with Gerald Nicholson and Bill Port.

Prudential's Puchbauer given care degree

Linda D. Puchbauer with Prudential Financial in Cape Girardeau has been awarded a professional degree in the field of long-term care. The program is independent of the insurance industry and focuses on providing insurance professionals the tools they need to meet their clients' long-term care needs.
