St. Francis Medical Center recently opened its Center for Health and Rehabilitation at 28 S. Mount Auburn Road.
The building, which previously housed the Human Performance Center, and later the HealthSouth rehabilitation facility, has been completely renovated and expanded to 16,000 square feet.
With the addition of 3,000 square feet on the upper level, the building has increased treatment space. An elevator has been installed to improve accessibility, and the building's parking area has been expanded.
"The move has allowed more outpatient services to be provided at one convenient location," said Gene Riegel, director of St. Francis' Outpatient Rehabilitation Program.
Bernie Gaydos, co-leader in the Ambulatory Center at St. Francis, added that move "provides us with the space to expand our outpatient programs and services in responses to the trend to provide more services in outpatient setting."
The traditional outpatient rehabilitation services of occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-hearing therapy are provided at the center, along with an expanded outpatient therapy service into the area of sports rehabilitation.
Several outpatient clinics, including the St. Francis Foot Center and MDA Clinic have also been relocated in the new building. In addition, the medical center has also integrated its fitness and wellness programs into the new building.
