NEW ON THE BUSINESS SCENE: NEW FUNERAL HOME AT CAIRO

CAIRO, Ill. -- Heavenly Gate Funeral Home has opened in Cairo.

Located at 1907 Martin Luther King Drive, the new funeral home occupies space that previously housed Hodge's Funeral Home, which closed in 1990.

Joe W. Beal is owner of the new business.

Beal, a former teacher and a United Methodist minister, was involved in the funeral home business a number of years in the Martin, Tenn., area.

Mildred Hodge, who was with Hodge's Funeral Home, serves as a consultant in the new funeral home. C.R. Williams is funeral directors. Also working with the new funeral home is Jim Hunt, who worked for the former Ruffin Funeral Home in Cairo for 25 years.
