The 3-year-old company, which has been operating out the Scott Horrell home, opened recently at 3527 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau.

Horrell, owner and operator of the business, discovered the powder coating technique when he was restoring a car more than three years ago.

"The baked-on powder finish was just what I needed," said Horrell, who cleans, sandblasts and coats a number of items, including automotive, outdoor furniture and other decorative items. "Powder provides an attractive finish. It can be applied evenly without running, dripping or excessive buildup."

Over the past three years, Horrell has provided services to M&W Packaging, Horizon Music, Bilt Best Windows, MTI and other businesses, as well as a number of individuals.

In his new facility, Horrell has a 16-by-80-by-6-foot oven for baking the powder coatings, which range from thermosetting polyesters, epoxies and acrylic to thermoplastic powders for more severe duty applications.

The business will be open form 8 a.n. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
