NEW ON THE BUSINESS SCENE: GLIK CHAIN EXPANDING

Glik Stores is expanding.

The family-owned apparel store headquartered in Granite City, Ill., has acquired five Sycamore Stores, which will reopen in Illinois and Indiana March 1 under the Glik name.

The three Indiana stores at Farnkfort, Brazil and Brownsburg, and the Olney, Ill., store will be operated as Glik's, featuring branded men's and women's apparel. The store at Taylorville, Ill., will be operated as a Glik $10 and Less store, featuring sportswear for men and women priced at $10 and under.

The new store openings will hike the Glik chain total to 51. The company is planning three new stores in Indiana this year.

The Glik company, founded in 1897, is one of the oldest family-operated apparel store chains in the U.S. In addition to Glik's and $10 and Less, the company operates stores under the name of Glik's Ltd., Glik's Guys, and Glik Sports.
