NEW BUSINESS: CATO'S TO OPEN HERE

Cato's, a women's apparel specialty store, will open in Cape Girardeau this month.

The new retail store will open in Town Plaza Shopping Center, near Kingshighway and William on Aug. 13.

The Cato Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., was founded by Wayland Cato Sr. in Mullins, S.C., in 1946, and now operates more than 600 stores under the names of Cato Fashion, Cato Plus and It's Fashion! in 21 states. A son, Wayland H. Cato Jr. is chairman and chief executive officer.

The Cape Girardeau store will offer a complete fashion selection of sportswear, dresses, coats, lingerie, shoes, hats and other accessories for juniors and misses and plus size. Included in the store will be a department for girls ages 7 through 16 girls department.
