Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association (MHPCA) recently awarded the Heart of Hospice Employee of the Year to Scott Miskelly, VNA of Southeast Missouri Hospice director, at a luncheon at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.
The MHPCA Heart of Hospice Awards are designed to honor the people affiliated with member hospices that in 2003 gave above and beyond the call of duty, giving of themselves; thus enhancing the quality of life for hospice patients.
Lois Kollmeyer of the state Department of Health and Senior Services presented the award before a room of 250 MHPCA members.
Miskelly has been director of VNA Hospice for the past seven years. He is described by the nominators as "incredibly talented, truly sincere, genuine, totally unselfish, God's angel, one in a million and remarkable."
His nominators included the administrator, the nurse coordinator and a patient family member.
