American Greetings Company, with headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, is expanding operations at its Osceola, Ark., site. An envelope manufacturing operation will be added, resulting in 100 new jobs.
The plant, which opened in Osceola in 1969, employs about 1,600 people.
The company recently closed two plants in Tennessee and Kentucky and announced a cutback of 1,500 jobs. But none of the cutbacks was at the Osceola plant.
The expansion was good news for the city, which recently lost its second-largest employer, Fruit of the Loom, which closed its plants, resulting in the loss of 800 jobs.
