The Mid-South Farm and Gin Show was held last weekend at the Memphis, Tenn., Cook Convention Center.
A number of Southeast Missouri farmers and equipment representatives attended the two-day event, co-sponsored by the Southern Cotton Ginners Association and Delta Farm Press. The show was the largest indoor exhibit of agricultural products, equipment and services in the Mid-South, and the largest cotton equipment trade show in the U.S.
Sessions on agricultural policy and program, and updates on ag technology and key markets were addressed. John Maguire, legislative director for the National Cotton Council, Washington, discussed what's shaping up for agriculture in under the new Bush Administration. Other speakers included Memphis cotton merchant William Dunavant; Richard Bell, Riceland Foods, Stuttgart, Ark.; and Mississippi cotton producer Kenneth Hood.
