Cape firm wins insurance distinction

The Daniel & Henry Co. in Cape Girardeau won recognition from Hawkeye-Security Insurance for meeting sales, growth and loss ratio goals with the presentation of the 2006 Chairman's Award. Led by Rob Johnson, the Daniel & Henry Co. provides comprehensive risk management services for businesses in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.

Perryville commission wins innovation award

The Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission in Perryville, Mo., was the recipient of a 2007 Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations. The award was presented for the commission's development of a county graphic information system for Southeast Missouri. The GIS system will help sustain and preserve the environmental, economic and cultural heritage of the region, NADO president Dan Bollinger said. The awards program recognizes regional development organizations for improving the economic and community competitiveness. The awards will be presented during the organizations 2007 training conference in August in Austin, Texas.

Business counseling sessions available

Anyone in the area currently operating a small business or contemplating starting a new venture can seek free counseling from Gil Degenhardt through the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission. The next session will be held Thursday in the commission's offices at 1 West St., Perryville, Mo. Individual counseling sessions are available by appointment and run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., taking about one hour. Call Kathy Hall at (573) 547-8357 for an appointment.
