St. Francis Medical Center Laboratory will host a public open house April 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. in observance of National Medical Laboratory Week.
The medical center's laboratory is on the main level, between the front lobby and the St. Francis Emergency Center. Medical Laboratory Week is April 10-16.
"The open house will give people a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes in a hospital lab," said Marilyn Curtis, director of the St. Francis lab.
The Missouri Restaurant Association's Southeast Chapter will sponsor its annual Las Vegas Night April 12 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
Cost of the event, which starts at 6 p.m., is $10 per person.
Games, prizes and an auction are among events for the evening. Prizes will consist of weekend packages, St. Louis Cardinal baseball tickets, dinners and the grand prize -- a trip for two to Las Vegas for four days and three nights.

Southwestern Bell is reminding customers in the immediate Southeast Missouri/Southern Illinois area that they must now dial "618" to reach McClure area customers and residents of McClure must dial "314" to reach the Missouri areas.
The calls are still free, but customers must dial the area code.
The changes effect customers in Missouri with 190, 334, 335, 339, 651, 243 and 264 prefixes.
Calls will remain as local service and will not require the number "1," which is used for long distance.
Bell explained that the dial changes were implemented because telephone exchanges in the affected areas have been exhausted.
Southeast Missouri Hospital will showcase its new, 105,000-square-foot, four-level, $19 million Clinical Services Building during a series of special open-house ceremonies this month.
An open house for the public will be held April 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A.G. Edwards Inc., headquartered in St. Louis, has announced record revenues and net earnings for the fiscal year ended Feb. 28.
Net earnings for the year were $154.9 million, or $2.57 per share on revenues of $1.3 billion. That compares to $119.4 million, $2.07 per share on revenues of $1.1 billion for the previous year.
Net earnings for the fourth quarter were $40.1 million, or 66 cents per share, on revenues of $322.1 million. Those totals were up from the $36.4 million, 63 cents per share on revenues of $305.7 million for the fourth quarter of the previous year.
A.G. Edwards Inc. is a financial services holding company, whose primary subsidiary, A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., is a security broker-dealer operating 495 offices, including an office at Cape Girardeau.
"Celebration Spring: Destination Southern Illinois" is the theme of the annual tourism expo to be held April 16 at University Mall in Carbondale, Ill. It will include business and tourism exhibits. Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mallinckrodt Medical Inc. (MMI) of St. Louis has signed contracts with three leading health care provider groups, including Health Services Corporation of America (HSCA), headquartered in Cape Girardeau.
HSCA, a group purchasing organization with more than 1,000 members, expanded its contract with MMI to include therapy/oncology products, health physics services and invitro products.
Also agreeing to contracts with MMI were Irving Healthcare and Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health Services Corp.
"These contracts with three leading health care providers represents a vote of confidence in the quality of Mallinckrodt Medical's specialty products," said Michael E. Rodebaugh, a vice president of MMI.
MMI products are sold in more than 100 countries. Fiscal 1993 sales were $783 million.
