The Jackson Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Tuesday for the new branch office of Edward D. Jones Investments at 2260 E. Jackson Blvd.

The Small Business Development Center of University of Missouri Extension Service will offer a class for people interested in starting or expanding their businesses. "The Basics of Writing a Business Plan" will be presented at 6 p.m. March 6 at the Cape Girardeau County extension office, 684 W. Jackson Trail in Jackson. The class will teach the key parts of a business plan and provide guides for the style and appearance of successful plans. To register, call 573-243-3581.

Wellness director to lecture at Southeast

The Southeast Missouri State University College of Health and Human Services will present the Chik-Fil-A wellness director, Elizabeth David, for a lecture at 6:30 p.m. March 5 in Glenn Auditorium of Dempster Hall. The lecture, entitled "Corporate Wellness in a Fast Food World" is part of the distinguished lecturer series and will focus on the evolution of the company's wellness program.
