Jackson ABWA chapter to offer scholarship
The Jacksonian Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association is offering a scholarship for the fall 2007 semester. Members of ABWA annually select scholarship recipients from of Cape Girardeau County. Scholarships are awarded to traditional and nontraditional students. An application blank and scholarship agreement can be obtained from any Cape Girardeau County high school counselor, from Southeast Missouri State University or by calling 204-7727. Leave a message with your name and address. The chapter must receive the completed information no later than March 31. All applicants will receive a letter from the committee.
Glitz-N-Glamour moves to downtown Cape
Glitz-N-Glamour, a women's accessory store, reopened Jan. 31 at its new location, 1 N. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau. The store sells a variety of items, including jewelry, soaps, exfoliaters and purses. Glitz-N-Glamour is open Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Missouri Enterprise plans marketing seminar
Missouri Enterprise, an organization dedicated to helping Missouri businesses succeed, will sponsor a seminar titled "A Written Marketing Plan: Your Company's Guide to Success" from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 21 in Room 112 of the Southeast Missouri State University Innovation Center at 920 Broadway. The seminar is designed to help companies understand that developing a written marketing plan with objectives and making a commitment to that plan can improve the chances of meeting their sales and profit goals. Extension to hold direct marketing workshop
Specialists with the University of Missouri Extension will provide a workshop from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Farmington Public Library for those who are direct marketing their products or are considering direct marketing their products. Business counseling sessions available
The Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission is offering free counseling sessions for area small-business people and individuals planning business ventures. The next session will be Thursday in the commission's offices at 1 W. St. Joseph St. in Perryville, Mo. Counseling sessions are conducted by appointment between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and run about an hour. For an appointment, call Kathy Hall at (573) 547-8357.
