The Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission will offer free counseling Thursday for small businesses and people considering opening new businesses. Offered in cooperation with Gil Degenhardt of the Southeast Missouri State University Small Business Development Center, the counseling is conducted by appointment and each session takes about one hour. Counseling sessions will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the planning commission offices at 1 W. St. Joseph St. in Perryville, Mo. For an appointment, call Joan Carlton at 573-547-8357.

Several ribbon cuttings to be held this week

Ribbon cuttings for several area ventures will take place this week. The new Jayson Jewelers at 97 N. Kingshighway will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. today. Two ribbon-cuttings will be Thursday, the first at 10:30 a.m. at the new Teen Challenge facility at 303 MATC Lane off County Road 621 and the second at 3:30 p.m. at the Capetown Independent Living Pati Homes and Clubhouse at 2857 Cape LaCroix Road. At 11:30 a.m. Friday, Casa Mexicana officially opens its new restaurant at 1832 N. Kingshighway.
