Medical clinic to open in Van Buren

POPLAR BLUFF -- The owners of Advanced Healthcare Management Services (AHMS) are opening a medical clinic in Carter County -- the Van Buren Medical Clinic at 1004 Main St.

This clinic is the newest addition to a rapidly growing family of medical facilities with locations in Butler, Carter, Reynolds and Ripley counties.

AHMS will provide free transportation for patients starting in February. The transportation van will make daily round trips, stopping in Doniphan, Ellington and Poplar Bluff.

"We have had a successful first year," said AHMS chief executive officer Warren Kerber. "It all started with a group of physicians that became disenchanted with the hospital organization. They wanted to have their own office building, plus the surgery center."

With AHMS headquartered in Poplar Bluff, the company has grown to include the Rains Clinic in Ellington, Samuel Medical Clinic in Doniphan, and Reynolds County Memorial Hospital and Advanced Community Care Clinic in Ellington.

It's the Poplar Bluff facility -- Advanced Healthcare and Surgery Center -- that serves as the heart of AHMS. The 45,000-square-foot facility contains a medical clinic, pharmacy, laboratory and same-day surgery center.
