Former Portageville newspaper publisher and editor Erwin Lloyd has announced his retirement after a 44-years in journalism which included years of writing news, composing advertising layout and selling newspaper subscriptions.

For the past 2 1/2 years, Lloyd had been an independent contractor with the Portageville Missourian-News, working out of his home writing news stories and selling advertising.

His career began in 1958 when he became editor of the Portageville Review and the SEMO News in Lilbourn, Mo.
