The Jackson Chamber of Commerce recently received a $20,000 anonymous donation to renovate its boardroom facilities.
The refurbished board room will feature new furnishings, flooring and new a media center.
"The goal of the renovations is to encourage Jackson Chamber of Commerce members to use the boardroom and its accessories free of charge for seminars, training, interviews and meetings," said Brian Gerau, executive director.
The media center will include a sound system, WiFi Internet access, desks and tables for meetings.
"This is a great opportunity for chamber members to use our boardroom as their own," Gerau aid.
The renovations, at the chamber's office at 125 E. Main St., are scheduled to be completed in mid-August.

* Web strategies class offered: Element 74 will host a Web workshop titled "Ten Web Strategies to Grow Revenue" at noon Aug. 25 at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce conference room. Lunch will be provided. The workshop will include research on eye movement online, search engine optimization, strategies to ensure customers return to a website; and how to develop online communities and effectively use social media including Facebook and Twitter. * Tractor's featured in Rural Missouri: Tractor's Classic American Grill, which has locations in Jackson and Perryville, Mo., is profiled in the July issue of Rural Missouri magazine. Rural Missouri is the statewide publication of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives. It is delivered each month to 500,000 members of Missouri's electric co-ops. Tractor's, owned by Teresa and Steve Blankenship, opened its Jackson location in 1997 and its Perryville restaurant in 2000.
* Glitz adds clothing line: Glitz, at Independence and Spanish streets in downtown Cape Girardeau, now carries dresses in addition to its accessories and gifts. The summer dresses available are manufactured in limited quantities by Moka and Katydid. Glitz is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
* Shop specializes in $10 cuts: Hair Cutters recently opened at 2106 Jackson Blvd. in Jackson. All haircuts for men, women and children are just $10. Buzz cuts are $8.
The shop is walk-in only, no appointments are taken. The shop is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Hair Cutters is owned by Millie Yates, who also owns Cape Cuts at 2009 Independence in Cape Girardeau.
