A national health care ratings organization has ranked Southeast Missouri Hospital as one of the top 10 facilities in the state for gastroenterology surgical services.
A HealthGrades representative presented the hospital with a plaque during a ceremony in the hospital lobby. The recognition was based on data compiled during HealthGrades' Hospital Quality in American Study, released in October 2009.
This type of surgery is designed to treat colorectal cancer, which strikes one of out every 18 adults, according to Southeast Missouri Hospital. Men and women are equally at risk.
Last month, HealthGrades presented the hospital an award as one of the 10 top facilities in Missouri for treatment of stroke.
