The Hidden Attic, a furniture and consignment store, soon will open at the former location of Ross Furniture on South High Street in Jackson.
Owner Daniel Glasco said in a news release the store will offer furniture from store closeouts, factory overruns and local consignments of home decor.
The store formerly operated in Marion, Illinois, but is moving to Jackson because of the attraction of the area and the market, Glasco said.
Ross Furniture moved from the building at 116 S. High St. in 2012 to East Jackson Boulevard.
The Hidden Attic is set to open March 16 with business hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Katholokos Republic Film + Media, a firm offering cinematic-style video marketing production and brand building, is open and serving clients from the former federal building in downtown Cape Girardeau.
The advertising firm, which also goes by KR Film + Media, was founded and is owned by Robbie Spurlock, who serves as its creative director.
The agency recently won a Silver Addy Award in Digital Advertising for its website at the American Advertising Awards in Cape Girardeau, according to a news release.
The firm also has worked with Creative Edge to create photography, video and cinematography for Codefi, the coworking community in the federal building.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., recently announced Cape Girardeau Honda has been awarded the prestigious Honda President's Award for 2014.
The award is presented to dealerships for exceptional performance in all operations, including sales, vehicle condition, customer experience, service retention and brand representation, according to a news release.
Only 125 dealerships out of more than 1,000 nationwide earn the award.
The dealership will receive a trophy and recognition materials for its showroom.
John Mendel, the company's executive vice president of automobile sales, said in the release dealerships that earn the recognition are role models for building positive connections with customers.
Cape Girardeau Honda has won the award the last five years.
Anytime Fitness, a franchise 24-hour coed fitness club, is opening a new location in Jackson this month.
The club is holding a pre-sale event on memberships before the opening.
The new club will be about 5,600 square feet and offer circuit and resistance training machines, free weights, cardio equipment, group fitness classes, kiosk-based video group fitness, private bathrooms, changing rooms and showers and tanning packages.
Staff will be in the club eight hours a day, and members can gain access any time with a computerized key system.
The club is at 2451 N. High St. in Jackson and will open in late March, a company representative said.

Simply Fitness, a fitness center in Jackson with 24-hour access for members, will hold a ribbon-cutting Wednesday.
The center opened in early February.
The event will be at 3 p.m. at the center at 2432 E. Main St. and will be followed by an open house from 4 to 7 p.m.
