Participants in the competition had to design a replacement sign for "Tama's Fish House," whose 20-year-old display had been destroyed in a storm.

The design had to be a double-sided, freestanding sign, measuring no more than 200 square feet on each side. Judging included project appearance, innovative use of materials and technology, distinctive identity, practicality of design with regard to construction, quality and creativity.

Ten winning designs were displayed at the association's sign expo recently in Las Vegas.
