Bradley Shields has been named "Correctional Officer of the Year" at Tamms Correctional Center.
Shields started employment with the Department of Corrections at Mend Correction Center in 1995. He transferred to Tamms in March of 1998, where is assigned to the 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift in the Tactical Unit Block.
Shields, who suffered injuries during recent altercation with an inmate, is a member and team leader of the Tamms Tactical Unit. He assists the shift commander in organization and maintaining work loads of the tactical staff.
A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Shields received a bachelor of science degree with a double major in criminal justice and activity therapy.
