William R. "Bill" Schott and Harold G. Fallert, certified public accountants with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants, recently completed specialized classes on handling IRS criminal tax inquiries and procedures. The classes, conducted in St. Louis, were presented by an attorney who specializes in civil and criminal tax litigation with the IRS.
Schott, managing partner, founded the firm in 1959 in Cape Girardeau. Fallert is the firm's tax manager.
Jennifer Garms, staff accountant with the company, recently attended an Accounting and Auditing Current Developments Forum, sponsored by the American Institute of CPAs. Garms received eight hours of continue education credits.
Schott & Van de Ven, headquartered at 1020 N. Kingshighway, Suite D, has satellite offices in Marble Hill, Mo., and Marion, Ill.
