Bob Heisserer of Rogers, Ark., and formerly of Cape Girardeau, has been recognized by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and HFN Magazine, as Wal-Mart's "Buyer of the Year."

Heisserer, who joined the giant retailer in store management 14 years ago, has been a buyer for Wal-Mart in girls' apparel, infant and juvenile products and currently, small electronics and floor care products.

He was named Wal-Mart's "Buyer of the Year" and later appeared on the HFN's "Best of the Best" list, recognizing the nation's top 25 buyers.

Linda Soder has been named branch manager of the IHS Home Care of Missouri for the Cape Girardeau and Marble Hill agencies.

Soder, a registered nurse, has more than 16 years of experience in management and home health care. She is a graduate of Woodland R-4 High School and Southeast Missouri State University.

IHS Home Care fo Missouri, formerly First American Home Care, has facilities at 2436 Myra Drive in Cape Girardeau and 703 Union St. in Marble Hill.

Don Rhodes has joined St. Francis Medical Center as vice president of human resources.

Rhodes comes to Cape Girardeau from St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Ill., where he served as personnel director since 1991. Before that, he was director of development and community relations at St. Mary's. He previously served as director of personnel at St. Vincent Hospital at Green Bay, Wis.

Rhodes is a graduate of Millikin University in Decatur, with a bachelor's degree in psycholog-sociology. He is a registered nurse and has completed postgraduate work in human resource management at Northern Illinois University and course work in health services administration in Sangamon State University.

Rhodes and his family will move to Jackson.

Larry McClard has joined Auffenberg Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Jeep-Eagle, 611 S. Kingshighway, as used-car manager.

McClard of Cape Girardeau has more than 15 years of experience in the auto sales industry.

Debbie Sutherland, a family nurse practitioner in convenient care of St. Francis Medical Center's Emergency Services Department, has completed 600 clinical hours as an advance practice nurse in pediatrics and completed national certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner.

Sutherland, a graduate of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., with a master's degree in nursing, is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner.

Four St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Services employees have completed the pediatric advance cardiac and trauma support for life and pediatric advance life support courses at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

Completing the courses were Kathy Lankford, Carol Riggs, Kris Buerck and Richard Tipton.

Dominick Burley has joined the Greenbrier & Russel Inc. of Schaumburg, Ill., as a software consultant.

Burley, formerly of Cape Girardeau County, is a recent graduate of the University of Texas-Arlington, with a master's degree in management information systems. He is also a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Burley, son of Paul and Joyce Burley of Fruitland, attended Notre Dame High School at Cape Girardeau.

Tim Caldwell of Tamms, Ill., has been recognized as an All-Star by the Country Companies Insurance Group.

Caldwell, an agent in the company's Union-Massac-Pulaski-Alexander Agency, is among a group of 278 top insurance producers recognized by the Country Companies for sales and service the first six months of 1997.

William L. Killian of Orthopaedic Associates of Southeast Missouri, P.C., recently attended the Johnson and Johnson's Orthopaedic Product Advisory Meeting and the National Association of Orthopaedic Technician's Symposium in New Orleans.

Killian participated in a demonstration and presented a workshop on the use of thermoplastics in the physician's office.

Killian is a pedorthist with the Orhopaedic Associates' Center for Pedorthics. He specializes in the manufacture of foot orthoses to alleviate foot problems caused by disease, overuse and/or injury.

David L. Hahs of Cape Girardeau has been recognized for sales excellence by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. for the year ended May 31.

Hahs, who is associated with the T. Ronald Hahs District Agency, Cape Girardeau, of the Edward T. Hempstead General Agency, St. Louis, received the company's "Top 100" award, for the 100 best sales performers, during the 117th annual meeting of Northwestern agents at Milwaukee.

Northwestern Mutual, headquartered in Milwaukee, is the nation's fifth largest life insurance company with assets of more than $66 billion.

Carol Winter and Orville Schaefer, certified water specialists with Schaefer Water Center, recently attended a seminar on water treatment at Cleveland.

Kinetico Inc. of Newbury, Ohio, conducted the workshop, which included sessions on business conduct and advertising for the water industry.

Schaefer Water Centers, founded in 1952, has offices at Cape Girardeau, Perryville, Herculaneum and Park Hills.

Rick C. Shultz of Jackson has received sales awards from Maintenance Engineering (M.E.), at the company home office in Fargo, N.D.

He received the company's Bronze M.E. Cross Pen Award for 100 percent on goal two consecutive quarters, from M.E. Midwest sales director Brian Breithart. He also received a sales award from M.E. vice president Dennis Leno.

M.E. provides lighting.

Carolyn Kempf and Laura Poole of Elite Travel Inc. have attended a familiarization trip to San Antonio.

Kempf and Poole inspected local hotels, visited the Alamo and Riverwalk.

Elite Travel has formed a separate division specializing in golf packages to the San Antonio and Phoenix areas.
