John A. Hudak has been named executive director of the Community Counseling Center, 402 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau.

Hudak previously served as director of Behavioral Sciences and Psychiatry for Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley, Va., where he was responsible for development, administration and management of an acute care, 70-bed inpatient program for adults and adolescents.

Hodak, who has more than 20 years' experience in the mental health services field, has a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a Masters of Divinity from St. Mary's Seminary and University, School of Theology, Baltimore, Md., and has taken additional graduate studies in public social policy and social welfare administration at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

In his new position, he will be responsible for operations and fiscal management of the Counseling Center and its outreach offices in St. Genevieve, Perry and Bollinger counties.

Community Counseling Center is a private not-for-profit agency serving needs of individuals with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders in Southeast Missouri.

Charles C. "Chuck" Leming has been named office manager at Century 21 Ashland Realty Co., in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. and Mrs. Herb L. Annis, owners of the realty company, announced Leming's appointment recently.

Leming previously served as general manager of Contractor Supply, a local lumber and home center. He is a licensed realtor and member of the Cape Girardeau County Board.

David Knight of Ole Hickory Pits, Cape Girardeau, was guest speaker during the National Barbecue Association meeting, held recently in Mobile, Ala.

Knight's topic was "Business Bonanza in the year 2000 and Beyond." He discussed expectations of the barbecue industry in the new millennium.

Bob Cosby, Dave Davidson, Dave Lewis and Mike Seabaugh have been promoted to maintenance shift coordinators at Dana Corp. in Cape Girardeau, with responsibility for coordinating the machine repairs need to keep equipment running at highest levels. Davidson started at Dana in 1989. Cosby and Seabaugh each started in 1990 and Lewis started in 1992.

Chris Barks and Paul Valleroy have been promoted to cutter grinds; John Auer has been promoted to the gear quality department. Valleroy started in 1991 and Barks started at Dana in 1995.

Darrell Heuring, Bob Flesher, Tom Griffith and Tracy Lougharty have all been promoted to the process engineers. Flesher and Lougharty in 1990, Heuring joined the company in 1991 and Griffith in 1996.

John Auer has been promoted to gear quality. He started in 1994.

Jane G. Job, a registered Metlife representative at the Cape Girardeau MetLife office, 351 Silver Springs Road, has been named "Agent of the Year."

Job works primarily in estate planning and retirement markets with the company. She has received Agent of the Year honors three consecutive years.

Dr. August Ritter III and Dr. Walker Alan Wynkoop, both of Cape Girardeau, have been inducted as "fellows" of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Ritter and Wynkoop were among 654 new fellows inducted during the group's ceremonies at the Academy's 64th annual meeting at San Francisco.

The Academy, founded in 1933, is the largest medical association for musculoskeleta specialists, with more than 17,000 active members. Qualification for membership includes completion of medical school, five years of specialty study in orthopaedics, and certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Wayne Owens, road driver for ABF Freight Systems Inc., has been selected for the 1997 ABF Road Team.

Owens, of Dexter, is based out of the Cape Girardeau ABF terminal, and joins the 12-man team which will travel throughout the country as spokesmen for the trucking industry.

Qualifications for earning a spot on the team include a safe-driving record, leadership abilities and concern for quality in the industry.

ABF has more than 320 terminals in the U.S.

Insurance executive Ron Lungwitz of Cape Girardeau, Agency Leader for Franklin Life Insurance Company of Springfield, Ill., has qualified for membership in the 1997 Franklin Million Dollar Conference, base on sales.

Lungwitz will be honored at the company's Million Dollar Conference, to be held at the El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico in April.

Franklin Insurance, founded in 1884, has about 3,000 sales associations, serving more than a million policy owners in the U.S.

Donna Miller of Cape Girardeau, was grand prize winner of a promotion by Curve For Women in Cape Girardeau.

Miller received a night's stay at Bellevue Bed & Breakfast, a CarVac from Kirby Co., two games of bowling at West Park Lanes, a Blimpie sub sandwich, 30 minutes tanning at Shumate Electrolysis and a make-over from Merle Norman.

Others winners were Michelle Chavez of Jackson, Marge King of Cape Girardeau, and Tanya Swift of Cape Girardeau.

Bob and Martha Paterson, owners of Sikeston's Show-Me Rentals, attended the American Rental Association's (ARA) 41st annual convention, held recently in New Orleans. Also attending the ARA event were Gale Williams, Show Me Rentals Equipment Manager, and his wife, Kathryn William.

More than 700 manufacturers, distributors and supplier fo equipment attended the annual convention during Mardi-Gras time in the Big Easy.
