Kim G. Swartz has joined the staff of Capaha Bank as marketing director for all three of the bank's sites in Illinois and Missouri. Swartz brings more than 13 years of marketing experience to her new position.
She served as marketing specialist and foundation executive director for the Community Counseling Center the past three years. Under her leadership the foundation's annual contributions rose 400 percent.
Other past marketing responsibilities include marketing director for the Human Performance Center and St. Francis Medical Center and director of planning and development for Lucy Lee Hospital and Doctors Regional Medical Center in Poplar bluff.
In her new position, Swartz will be responsible for marketing, public relations, sales training, new product development and implementation, legislative advocacy and CRA compliance tracking.
She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Administrative Council of Centenary United Methodist Church, Cape West Rotary and is a board member of the Advisory Council for the Department of Counseling at Southeast Missouri State University.
John Heins, formerly of Cape Girardeau, was profiled recently by Advertising Age Magazine as president-CEO of Gruner & Jahr USA Publishing.
Young Heins, son of A.E. "Ed" Heins who previously served as publisher and executive vice president of Concord Publishing House in Cape Girardeau, attended Cape Central High School.
Gruner & Jahn publishes seven titles, including McCall's and Family Circle. John Heins has been with Gruner & Jahr four years. He started in the magazine business as a reporter/researcher for Forbes, covering everything from municipal bonds to high technology.
Discussing the magazine industry, Heins said, "We need to do a better job of selling how effective print is in allowing advertisers to sell more products. There have been a lot of inherent biases in agencies and with marketers toward TV, some based on strong quantitative evidence, some not."
Heins says he is a "hands-on" management person when the situation requires it, and "hands-off" when the situation warrants it."
Paul and Paula Siemers and Kathryn Miller of Gordonville Mutual Insurance Co. recently attended the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Cos.' 102nd annual convention in Lake Ozark.
Mr. Siemers is director and Miller is manager of the company.
They were among more than 600 in attendance at the statewide convention that featured an array of educational programs aimed at helping mutual insurance managers, employees, agents and directors to better serve the needs of their policyholders.
Mutual Insurance Cos. have no stockholders, rather, they are wholly owned by their policyholders. Those in attendance also heard some of the nation's leading motivational speakers, such as Eric Chester and Jim Gossett. Derry Brownfield and Rep. Mark Elliott were also on the program as was Kansas City attorney John Schultz. The convention also featured a number of industry speakers on a variety of topics and a trade and exhibit area featuring industry related services.
The Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Cos. is made up of 125 mutual insurance companies and 23 related companies that serve the mutual insurance industry. Gordonville Mutual Insurance Co. was established in 1869 and is among the oldest Missouri Mutual company.
Shawn Reynolds, branch manager of Metro Lighting in Cape Girardeau, has been certified as a certified lighting specialist as recognized by the American Lighting Association. Through intensive training in lighting layout, design and application, Reynolds is the St. Louis-based company's first and only certified lighting specialist adept at both interior as well as exterior lighting layout and design.
Victor E. Isaacs, D.C., has successfully completed the 150 hours of Continuing Medical Education necessary to maintain membership in the American Osteopathic Association.
The ADA requires that its members keep abreast of developments in medicine by earning 150 hours of CME credit every three years.
Credit-hours are obtained by participating in postgraduate courses and scientific seminars approved by the ADA in all medical specialties and contemporary health subjects.
Across the nation, the ADA, which represents more than 30,000 osteopathic physicians, promotes the public health, encourages scientific research and acts as the accrediting agency for osteopathic hospitals and colleges.
