Dr. Jesse L. White Jr., co-chairman of the Appalachian Regional Commission, will discuss details of proposed funding for the Lower Mississippi Delta Regional Commission at two area meetings next month.
White will speak at 1:30 p.m. June 8 at Robert A. Dempster Hall on Southeast Missouri State University campus. He will be speaker at 7 p.m. June 8 at the new Farmington Community Center.
President Clinton has proposed $26 million funding for the Lower Mississippi Delta Commission to assist in developing the area for economic development. As proposed, the commission would be co-sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission and housed in Washington.
Up to about $3 million would be available annually for Missouri.
Dr. Edwin J. Masters was elected vice speaker of the Missouri State Medical Association's House of Delegates during the 1998 MSMA Convention at St. Louis.
Masters, a family physician, is associated with Regional Primary Care in Cape Girardeau.
He is a member of the Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society, Missouri State Medical Association, American Medical Association, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and American Academy of Family Physicians. He is also a diplomate in geriatrics.
Masters is one of several Cape Girardeau doctors to attend the MSMA. Others were Drs. Richard A. Martin, T.J. Glenn, Melvin C. Kasten, Jean A. Chapman, Robert W. George and Thomas C. Sparkman.
More than 1,000 physicians representing 24 medical specialties attended the four-day event. Attending physicians earned continuing medical education credit-hours for the American Medical Association's Physical Recognition Award. A number of topics and medical programs were included on the agenda.

Montgomery of Cape Girardeau has 18 years of experience in the beauty industry and is a graduate of a St. Louis area beauty school.
She is a member of the National Cosmetology Association and Missouri Education Design Committee.
Shannon Curtis Miller of Cape Girardeau has joined the clinical staff at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center of Cape Girardeau.
Miller, who has master's degree in occupational therapy from Washington University of School of Medicine and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Maryville College in St. Louis, will specialize in the management of hand injuries at the center.
Dr. Anne Heisserer has been accepted for membership in the American Chiropractic Association, a professional organization for doctors of chiropractic.
Heisserer, a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, practices at Tally-Heisserer Chiropractic, 2911 Beaver Creek Drive.
