Timothy J. Schwent has joined the certified public accounting firm of Schott and Van De Ven.

Schwent, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in business administration, has been a certified public account since 1976.

He has experience in industry as a chief financial officer, human resources manager and as vice president of administration.

He has serves a number of organizations as treasurer, including U.S. Jaycees, Missouri Jaycees, City of Jackson and several political campaigns.

He was one of five Outstanding Young Men of Missouri in 1979 and has received other awards from Jackson and Cape Girardeau Jaycees.

Schott and Van De Ven, with a staff of 26, has been in business since 1959.

Denise Hildebrand has joined Premier Air Center Inc. of East Alton, Ill., as a service sale representative for a five-state area, including Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Illinois.

Hildebrand has more than 15 years of experience in the aviation industry. She will sell Premier's airframe, engine, avionics and interior refurbishing services.

Premier Air Center is a Cessna sales team authorized representative, to sell Cessna's new single-engine aircraft.

Carol Luttrell of Corning, Ark., is the new liaison nurse at Lucy Lee Home Health.

She will organize Lucy Lee's public health education events, such as cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure screenings in Poplar Bluff and outlying areas, and will serve as home health information source to discharge planners, physicians and others in the hospital.

Luttrell has been an employee of Lucy Lee for five years, working three years as nurse at the home health office in Corning and two years in the hospital's critical care unit.

Lucy Lee is headquartered at Poplar Bluff and has Missouri branch offices in Piedmont, Doniphan and Malden, and an Arkansas branch at Corning.

Barbara Crowell of the St. Francis Medical Center Womancare will discuss women's health issues -- breast cancer, screenings and osteoporosis -- when the Professional Secretaries International group meets Tuesday.

The group will meet at 6:30 p.m., at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. PSI meetings are open to the public.

Hildegard Bader, who has been with KFVS for more than 40 years, will retire this week. Bader, who started work at KFVS radio in November 1954, will leave her post today.

"When I started work at the radio station, KFVS-TV had been on the air two weeks," said Bader, a native New Yorker who moved to Cape Girardeau in 1947.

"My main job at that time was as a `Girl Friday' for the radio station," said Bader. "But I also served as a receptionist for the television operation."

She became full-time in television when the station was acquired by American Family Corp. in 1979, working various phases as a program coordinator, secretary and receptionist.

"Only two people remain here that was here when I joined KFVS," said Bader, referring to herself and Don Sherwood.

Lacey Umfleet has been named "Salesman of the Year" at Ford Groves Motor Co.

Umfleet has been a salesman at Ford Groves for two years, and in 1997, sold 233 vehicles to earn top salesman honors.

David L. Hahs and Jay M. Sheets were recently honored at a Northwestern Mutual Life awards dinner, held by district agent and Mrs. T. Ronald Hahs, at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

David Hahs was recognized as the agency sales leader for 1997, with production of 194 life policies and $254,240 in new annualized premium. He has been a member of the local agency since 1972 and is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Runner-up for the sales leader awards was Dwayne C. Lorenz of Sikeston.

Sheets of Farmington received the "Bull O' The Woods" award for highest percentage increase in sales for the last six months of 1997, with 359 percent of his quota. Runner-up for the award was the agency's newest associate, Brandon C. Hahs, producing 262 percent of his quota.

The Cape Girardeau District Agency had its best year ever, posting a 31 percent increase in premiums over 1996. The agency was founded in 1948 by M. Luther Hahs. T. Ronald Hahs has managed the agency since 1974. Northwestern Mutual has more individual life insurance policies in force than any other company and has been in business since 1857.

Shelly Haupt of Cape Girardeau has joined Beauty Boutique, 2820 E. Jackson Blvd., in Jackson.

Haupt, a graduate of Stage One The Hair School in Cape Girardeau, is a hair stylist and will do pedicures at Beauty Boutique.

She has nine years experience in the industry.
