Thomas Meyer has completed the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) class, "Essential of International Real Estate," sponsored by the Missouri Association of Realtors.
The course, which includes topics on problems of international transactions, cultural and historical elements of the client's region and marketing properties and services, fulfills one of the educational requirements of the CIPS designation, awarded by the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
John Likens, of Springboro, formerly of Cape Girardeau, general manager of Ohio Valley Distribution Center of SuperValu, has been promoted to vice president, logistics, for the Central Region, which includes the Ohio Valley, Greenville and Fort Wayne Distributions.
Likens, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, has been with SuperValu six years.
He previously worked with the Scrivner Co., of Knoxville, Tenn., as head buyer, and ultimately director of merchandising. He also previously worked for Wetterau in Scott City, and at Schnucks Markets and Wards Big Store in Cape Girardeau.
Likens will replace Ed Gesek, who will retire in February.
Mark Dirnberger, Drury Lodge, has been elected president of the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association.
Dirnberger and other officers will be installed during the Jan. 13 meeting to be held at the Holiday Inn.
Other officers include Sue Hill, Holiday Inn, vice president and Paula Valle, Family Inn Restaurant, secretary-treasurer.
Also honored will be John and Jerri Ann Wyman, who have been selected "Restaurateurs of the Year."
The Wymans are with Merriwether Investments, which operates Mollie's Cafe and Royal N'Orleans.
Genesis Transportation Co. Inc., a locally owned and operated trucking company, recently honored a number of its employees at the annual Safety and Award Banquet, held at the Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau.
A total of 13 drivers and three shop personnel received awards from the American Trucking Association and Great Casualty Co. The drivers combined for a total of 3 million accident-free miles.

Eleven members of the Cape Girardeau Association of Life Underwriters have received National Quality Award from the National Association of Life Underwriters.
The awards were presented during the December meeting of the local group, held at Port Cape Girardeau Restaurant.

Lyle Wiese has been named general manager of Doniphan Lignetics Inc. manufacturing facility.
Wiese will be replacing Elton Bates, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.
Wiese, who has been with the company 20 years, has served as plant manager at Lignetics facility at Sandpoint, Idaho, the past two years.
Lignetics is a supplier of pellet fuel and related products in North America. The company operates three pellet manufacturing plants -- Doniphan, Sandpoint and Glenville W.Va.
