Stacy Taylor has been named program assistant by the Missouri Mentoring Partnership for Cape Girardeau and Scott counties.
Taylor previously served as office manager for Lutheran Family and Children's Services the past two years. Prior to that she was a senior customer representative for Chase Manhattan Bank and Town North National Bank in Dallas, Texas.
Her duties here will include administration of the Youth Opportunity Program grant, recently awarded to the mentoring program, which allows tax credits for employers of participating youth.
The mentoring program offers people between the ages of 16 and 22 an opportunity for employment with mentor support in the workplace, said Marge Sullivan, coordinator. The program operates under the umbrella of the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council.
Craig N. Calvin of Jackson is new general manager of the Best Western Colonial Inn at Perryville.
Calvin has more than seven years of experience in the hotel industry, four of them at the Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau. He was previously associated with the Cape Girardeau Budget Inn, and the Courtyard by Marriott in Creve Coeur.
A native of Cape Girardeau, Calvin attended St. Louis Community College, majoring in hospitality and restaurant management. He transferred to Southeast Missouri State University where he will complete a degree in hospitality management.
The Best Western at Perryville, built in 1982, has 71 rooms and has been extensively refurbished over the past six months.
Betty Powell Sherouse has been named coordinator of Diebetes Education and Management Center at St. Francis Medical Center.
Sherouse moved to Cape Girardeau from San Antonio, Texas, where she served as program director for Curative Health Services at Southwest General Hospital. She previously served as a project director and program manager for Diabetes Treatment Centers of America.
She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Incarnate Word College. Sherouse is a member of Sigma Lambda Chi Nursing Society, Alpha Lambda Delta National Scholastic Society and Who's Who in Professional Nursing.
Karla Marquart has joined Commercial Real Estate Specialists Inc., as a sales agent.
She has been in real estate sales since 1983. She closed more than $5 million in volume for 1998 and has already completed $1 million of production this year.
She is a life member of the Multi-Million Dollar Club and three-time qualifier for the Centurion Award.

Sam Birk of Jackson has been named manager of Cape Electrical Supply Co. at 325 Christine St.
Birk has more than 10 years experience with Cape Electric and most recently was a sales representative calling on customers throughout Southeast Missouri.
Cape Electrical Supply, founded in 1953, has sites at Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, West Plains, Park Hills and Arnold in Missouri, Marion and Carbondale in Illinois, Paducah in Kentucky and Dyersburg in Tennessee.
Ma-Li Imphoff has joined Wood & Huston Bank as teller supervisor.
Imhoff of Cape Girardeau has more than six years banking experience. She previously worked with NationsBank and Capaha Bank in Cape Girardeau.
She is involved in volunteer activities with St. Francis Medical Center, VIP Industries and the Show Me Center. She serves as an interpreter for Shaoxing, China, residents visiting Cape Girardeau.
Ted Hahn of Cape Girardeau was recipient of a National Quality Award, presented during the December meeting of the National Association of Life Underwriters.
Hahn is a senior account executive with Horace Mann Insurance. Horace Mann, headquartered in Springfield, Ill., sells retirement annuities and auto, homeowners and life insurance.
The NALU, headquartered in Washington, presents the quality awards in recognition of sales and service to clients.

Richard I. Arnold, of Jonesboro, Ill., has retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Arnold, a native of Scott City, worked with the Illinois DOT almost 34 years ( 33 years, 11 months). He was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla and was a registered professional engineer. As senior resident engineer in District 9's Bureau of Project Implementation, he was involved in the supervision of highway projects in the 13 southernmost counties of the state.
Dr. Robert E. Degen, a chiropractor in Cape Girardeau, has completed an advanced course of study from the Research Institute of San Diego.

True, a registered nurse in the GI lab, has earned Certified-Gasatroenterology Registered Nurse status. She has worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital since 1989. She received an associated degree in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University, and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Ford, who has been at Southeast since 1988, a licensed practical nurse in the GI Lab, has earned designation as a Certified Gasatroenterology Nurse. She received her licensed practical nurse's degree from the Cape Girardeau Vocational-Technical School.
LaDonna Wills, coordinator of Southeast Missouri Hospital's Generations Family Resource Center, has completed requirements leading to Certification in Nursing Administration, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Washington, D.C.
An employee at Southeast 14 years, Wills received her associate's degree in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University and her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Evansville at Evansville, Ind. She also holds certification in neonatal nursing.
