Russell Welder, court reporter for Judge John Grimm, 32nd Judicial Circuit, Division II, Cape Girardeau, has been installed as president of the Missouri Court Reporters Association during the group's annual convention at Lake of the Ozarks.

Welder, who has been an official court reporter the past nine years, previously served as president-elect and vice president of the organization. In addition, he was a military reporter for 10 years.

Sande Meyer, a free-lance certified court reporter and certified legal video specialist with the firm of Wills & Associated in Cape Girardeau, is also a new officer of the association. Meyer was installed as treasurer.

Mindy S. Pulley has been named branch sales manager at the NationsBanc Mortgage Corp.'s mortgage office in Cape Girardeau.

Pulley, a graduate of Missouri Valley College in Marshall, with a bachelor's degree, has been with the company more than nine years. She started her banking career in 1980 as operations secretary and teller. She is a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

NationsBanc Mortgage Corp. is a subsidiary of NationsBank, N.A., which recently merged with BankAmerica Corp.

Cheryl Taylor has joined Studio Design Salon, 229 S. Broadview, as a nail technician.

She specializes in manicures, pedicures and artificial -- fiberglass, silk and acrylic -- nail enhancements.

Taylor of Altenburg is a graduate of Stage One The Hair School in Cape Girardeau. She previously worked at Janet's Hair Fashions.

Richard F. Wieser of Cape Girardeau has joined Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Wieser, a graduate of Fort Scott, Kan., Community College and Southeast Missouri State University, with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in social work, has worked in the Cape Girardeau area since graduation here in 1976, most recently with Fruitland Dressed Meats, for 18 years.

Five sales representatives from KAGMO Electric Inc. have completed a weeklong training session in Dallas, Texas.

Completing the course on operation and application of power transmission and related products were Rusty Nelson, power transmission manager, Cape Girardeau; Jim Trickey, telemarket representative, Cape Girardeau; Steve Bowles, sales representative of Jackson; Carl Froemsdorf, sales representative of Chaffee; and Bruce Fox, sales representative of Delta.

Gary and Doris Jean Arnold, Rodney and Pamela Arnold, owners of Re/Max Achievers in Cape Girardeau, were honored recently during a one-week conference at the Hyatt Regency in the Grand Cayman Islands.

Re/Max Achievers, which opened in Cape Girardeau in mid-May, received honors from Re/Max International president Dave Liniger of Denver, Colo.

Special seminars on new trends in real estate for the year 2000 were presented during the conference.

Robert E. Degen of Cape Girardeau has completed an advanced course of study from the Research Institute of San Diego.

The course included clinical management, treatment of neck acceleration/deceleration, injuries otherwise known as whiplash.

Degan's office is at 331 Bellevue, with office hours of 8 to noon and 2 to 5 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 8 to noon Thursday.

Lacey Umfleet has been named "Salesperson of the Year" for 1998 at Ford Groves Motor Co.

Umfleet has been a salesman at Ford Groves three years. He was also top salesman at Ford Groves in 1997.

Connie Brown and Mike Radake, certified public accountants with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants, attended the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants annual accounting and adjusting update, held in St. Louis, late in 1998.

The two-day conference covered federal audit information and focused on day-do-day accounting auditing problems.

Brown, a certified public accountant since 1985, and Radake, a certified public accountant since 1994, both specialize in audit work. Both are members of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and are certified to practice in Missouri and Illinois.

Schott & Van de Ven is a full-service public accounting firm at 1020 N. Kingshighway, Suite D.

Jana Jateff, Laurie White, Wanda Russell and Julie Wehmeyer recently received honors for top sales of Mary Kay Cosmetics products.

Jateff, senior sales director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, announced the sales honors recently.
