McWaters joins Northwestern office
Gary S. McWaters of Sikeston has joined the Dwayne C. Lorenz office in Sikeston as a financial representative of Northwestern Mutual.
McWaters' appointment was announced recently by T. Ronald Hahs, district Northwestern director in Cape Girardeau.
McWaters will provide personal, business and estate planning using such Northwestern Mutual products as life insurance, disability income insurance and long-term health care insurance, annuities and mutual funds.
McWaters previously worked as a sale representative for Prudential Life Insurance Co., and worked 18 years for Noranda Aluminum Inc. at New Madrid.
The Northwestern Mutual Financial Network serves Southeast Missouri with offices in Cape Girardeau, Sikeston and Farmington.
Accountant attends software workshop
Scott A. Van de Ven, CPA, with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants of Cape Girardeau, recently attended a "Thinking With ACL Software" workshop.
ACL is a software program specifically designed to extract information from various company data sources. The program brings data analysis capability historically reserved for big business to small businesses.
Schott & Van de Ven is a full-service public accounting firm at 1020 N. Kingshighway, Suite D, Cape Girardeau. Founded in 1959, the firm has satellite offices in Marble Hill, Mo., and Marion, Ill.
Southeast dean receives Katz Award
John B. Hinni, dean emeritus from Southeast Missouri State University, has been recognized for his contributions to general and liberal education.
Hinni was honored with the Joseph Katz award, by the Association for General and Liberal Students.
He received his award at the association's conference, held in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Hinni currently serves as president of the Community Counseling Center's Board of Directors at Cape Girardeau. He has been a member of the board since 1994.
Dentist awarded college fellowship
Dr. Shanon T. Kirchhoff of Cape Girardeau has been awarded fellowship in the American College of Dentists.
Kirchhoff was past president of Missouri Society of Orthodontist and Southeast Missouri District Dental Society. He also served on the City of Cape Girardeau Board of Examiners.
He is presently a delegate to the American Dental Association, a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, SEMO District Dental Society, Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontist, the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontists, American Academy of Forensic Sciences and Academy of Forensic Odontology.
The American College of Dentists was founded in 1920. Less than 4 percent of dentists are fellows of the college.
New officers on Farm Bureau board
Tom Sachse Haas been elected president of the Cape Girardeau County Farm Bureau Board of directors.
Other officers elected recently were Chris Heartening, vice president; Shirley Aufdenberg, secretary; and David Wichern as treasurer.
Mary Gray, Lawson Burgfield, Dean Sawyer and Jeff Gholson were introduced as new board members. The new members join Robert Nitsch, Vernon Miller, Elsie Peetz, Carl Kirchdoefer, Raymond Lampley, Liz Aufdenberg and Paul Dirnberger Jr. on the board.
Bellis awarded GRI designation
Sue Bellis of Century 21 Key Realty, has been awarded the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation by the Missouri Association of Realtors, after completing 90 hours of specific education courses outlined by the National Association of Realtors.
The courses were offered by the Missouri Realtor Institute to provide training all phases of the real estate industry.
