Sloan + Themis on Thursday will host an evening of "pearls, crystals, cupcakes and glamour" as part of its fall trunk show, with 10 percent of sales benefitting Old Town Cape, a not-for-profit organization that works toward revitalizing downtown Cape Girardeau, according to an email from Claire Bruce, owner of Sloan + Themis.
The event is open to both jewelry designers and fashion enthusiasts, the email said, and customers will be able to select from strands of pearls, crystals, rhinestones and semi-precious stones. The shop also will offer design services for women wanting to create custom jewelry.
The event will be at 5:30 p.m. at 31 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau.

Tractor Supply Co. in Cape Girardeau will offer PetVet Clinic, a service of PawsPlus, beginning in October. PetVet clinic will offer individual and comprehensive vaccine packages for rabies, bordetella and parvo, and microchipping and heartworm tests and prevention, according to a news release from the company.
The clinics will be offered a minimum of once a month and will be staffed by a state-licensed veterinarian and a service team, the release said.
The services are offered for cats and dogs only. No appointment is necessary and there is no exam fee.

Stacy Busch-Heisserer of Busch Pet Products recently purchased the Zoomin' Groomer mobile dog salon from original owner Ashley Hahs, who started the business in 2010, according to an email from Busch Pet Products.
Hahs still will be a part of the business, both as a mentor and fill-in groomer, the email said.
The Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness Seminar on Nov. 20, according to an email from the chamber.
The seminar is designed to provide companies with tools to increase awareness of possible events and how to prepare and respond efficiently to them, the email said. The event will cover topics such as company emergency plans, violent intruders in a business and how to work with the media during an emergency.
The conference will be at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau and event sponsorships and exhibitor booths are available.

Erbert & Gerbert's Sandwich Shop announced Thursday in a news release that it will be opening eight to 10 locations in Missouri, including one in Cape Girardeau in the next three years.
The sandwich shop began in Wisconsin and has more than 60 locations in the United States, with most of them in Wisconsin's surrounding states. The chain plans to open locations in St. Joseph, Joplin, Springfield, Columbia, St. Louis, St. Charles, Cape Girardeau, O'Fallon and St. Peters within the next three to five years, the release said.
"After celebrating a huge milestone this year -- our 25th anniversary -- and our success throughout the country, we are very excited about coming to Cape Girardeau to serve local residents," said Jeff Thames, director of franchise sales for Erbert & Gerbert's, in the release.
