The National Cotton Council scheduled 49 educational meetings on the Agriculture Act of 2014 in 15 states, including a meeting in Portageville, Mo.
"This new, five-year comprehensive farm law includes fundamental changes in cotton's safety net, a greater reliance on crop insurance products, and will be implemented over the 2014 and 2015 crops," said Mark Lange, council president and CEO, in a news release.
Some of the legislation's provisions, as in other farm laws, are complex, and the meetings will provide insight necessary for members to plan accordingly, he said.
All producers, cotton industry firms and agribusinesses are encouraged to attend the meetings, according to the release.
A meeting will be at 9 a.m. March 20 at the Delta Research Center in Portageville.
