Just Kidding Consignment Store is expected to open Monday at 101 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau.
The children's clothing store, owned by Erica and Brian Anderson of Cape Girardeau, is accepting items for consignment and will continue to accept items each Monday and Wednesday throughout the year, Erica Anderson said.
The store will accept toys, baby gear, maternity clothes, juniors' clothes, jewelry, handbags and current formal wear, including bridal gowns, in addition to children's clothes.
Erica Anderson said she believes there is a high demand for a consignment store in downtown, especially for children's item consignment. The store will occupy the space that formerly was The Wiggery.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development reported last week the state's unemployment rate rose a tenth of a point in April. The rate was 5.7 percent.

A new miniaturized, wireless monitoring sensor to manage heart failure, the CardioMEMS HF System, is available from SoutheastHEALTH, the hospital reported last week.
SoutheastHEALTH is the first hospital in the region to offer the monitoring system, according to a news release.
The system, which measures the heart-failure indicator PA pressure with sensors after a nonsurgical procedure, has been proven to reduce hospital admissions when used to manage heart failure. The system allows patients to transmit daily sensor readings from their homes to their cardiologists, according to the release.
Farmington, Missouri-based First State Community Bank recently was named a 2014 Top 15th Percentile of Community Banks by Seifried & Brew, a community-bank risk-management firm.
The ranking required the bank to "demonstrate exemplary performance of balancing risk and reward based on the bank's S&B Total Risk/Return Composite Ranking," according to a news release from the bank.
Rosalia's House of Glamour, 113 N. West St. in Oran, Missouri, will hold an open house Sunday.
Owner Rosalia Friga said she is welcoming past and current customers to visit the salon from 2 to 4 p.m. that day to celebrate 50 years in business. Friga, who opened the salon in 1965, offers hairdressing, massage and other cosmetology services for men and women.
