The Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is being offered throughout Southeast Missouri -- including Cape Girardeau, Perryville, and Sikeston.
Volunteers provide free assistance to taxpayers who cannot afford professional tax help and assist those with special needs, including people with disabilities, non-English speaking people and older taxpayers.
Volunteers in the VITA program are trained by the IRS, can help with basic federal and state income tax returns and e-file returns for quicker returns.
For tax assistance call 334-5533 at Cape Girardeau; (573) 547-2014 at Perryville and (573) 471-4113 at Sikeston for appointments, or call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 for additional sites.
