The new, 101,000-square-foot assembly building and 13,000-square-foot flight test hangar will be on 13 acres at the Ames Municipal Airport. Completion of the production facility is projected for mid-1998.

The VisionAire Vantage, to be manufactured in the facility, is a six-passenger, single-engine business jet aircraft, able to fly at more than 400 miles per hour at altitudes in excess of 40,000 feet. The company is headquartered at St. Louis.

Cape Girardeau was a finalist for the VisionAire manufacturing facility, but Ames was selected for the assembly plant in August 1995. The Ames facility will employ 150 workers.
