The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center at Poplar Bluff has received the "Scissors" award.
The Scissors award is presented by the Veteran's Administration to individuals or teams who streamline operations and improve the quality and timeliness of service to veterans and their families.
The John J. Pershing Center received the award for redefining the role of halfway houses as part of a veteran's treatment plan.
James W. Roseborough is the medical center director. Milton Ayala, director of mental health and behavioral sciences at the center, headed up the team that designed the halfway house plan.
