Chicago's Sears Tower, at 1,450 feet, held the "world's tallest" title from 1973 until 1996, when the Malaysian skyscraper, at 1,483 feet, was ruled taller.

Two months ago, Toberman announced plans for a 70-story building in the center of the city's Loop, but Toberman now plans a taller building. He is negotiating with the city on "a couple of changes" to his original plan and hopes to conclude negotiations in two weeks.
