P.M. Place Stores Company, headquartered in Bethany, Mo., operates 49 discount stores in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and Kansas, and employs 750 people. The acquisition is expected to be finalized by early July.

ShopKo, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Green Bay, Wis., operates 327 retail stores in 22 states, including an operation at Westfield Shoppingtown West Park in Cape Girardeau.
