Solar Communications, an international printing and packaging company specializing in direct marketing, has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Solar's Perryville facility has been designated a an OHSA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) merit site and was honored last week by OSHA officials. Donald R. Delinger, the regional VPP program manager, presented the company with a certificate and an OSHA VPP merit flag.
Solar, an employee-owned printing and packaging company headquartered in Naperville, Ill., partnered with OSHA for more than a year to meet the requirements for VPP designation. As a result, Solar is now recognized by OSHA as one of Missouri's best in the area of occupational safety and health management. Only 14 other sites have been so designated in the state.
"The VPP is an effective vehicle for continuous improvement," said Andy Antonellis, Solar's compliance safety and health coordinator. "The cooperative effort helped us nurture a culture in which safety is not simply a priority which gets shifted along with demands, but a value linked to all priorities."
