The newly formed Missouri Association of Private Investigators (MAPI) will meet to elect officers May 15 in Jefferson City.
MAPI was founded last month when about 40 investigators from across the state joined to form the association, which was founded to foster professionalism and cooperating in the industry.
Dwight McNiel, owner of Midwest Intelligence in Ozark, is temporary president of the group.
The first item on the agenda was to lend its support to current state legislation. As part of the Omnibus Crime Bill, the "P.I. Licensing" amendment will establish a state board of examiners for private investigators.
Currently, Missouri is one of only nine states that do not have licensing requirements.
