BUSINESS MEMO: `EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS'

MORAD Manufacturing Co., a Sikeston company that designs and manufactures radiators for automotive, commercial, agricultural and industrial applications, has received the "Excellence in Business" award for business achievement from the Missouri Small Business Development Center.

MORAD approached the SBDC office at Southeast Missouri State University in 1995 when the company's owners, Wayne and Jacque Burch, wanted to expand their radiator shop into manufacturing specialty radiators.

SBDC counselor Buz Sutherland has worked with the owners in developing their new business.

MORAD recently announced a major expansion, moving form its present 6,250-square-foot shop to a 45,000-square-foot facility at 1900 E. Malone.

MORAD, which has created 21 new jobs and retained five original jobs, is one of a dozen recipients of the award.

The center program is sponsored by the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension, and contracts with other universities to provide one-on-one counseling and organized training opportunities.
