Total construction activity in Missouri was up 10 percent in October and the year.
The F.W. Dodge Division of McGraw-Hill, an authority on the construction market, reported total construction for October at $548,340,000, up from the $499,357,000 totals for the same month in 1994.
Nonresidential construction in the state during the month, which includes commercial, manufacturing and other buildings not designed for shelter, was reported at $176.956,000, up 22 percent over the $144,921,000 figures of October a year ago.
Residential construction for the month was $226,879,000, up 8 percent from the $209,302,000 in October 1994.
Nonbuilding construction, which includes streets, highways, bridges, river and harbor developments, airports and a few other projects, was reported at $144,340,000 for October, about even with the $145,234,000 during the same month a year ago.
Total construction for the first 10 months of 1995 was up 10 percent. Overall totals through October were $5.3 billion, compared to $4.8 billion a year ago. Nonresidential construction for the first 10 months was reported at $2.2 billion, up 35 percent over the $1.7 billion for the same period a year ago; residential construction was reported at $1.98 billion, down 12 percent from the $2.2 billion of 1994; and nonbuilding was reported at $1.1 billion, 20 percent over the $915 million of a year ago.
