David Barkett of Barkett Funeral Homes in Cairo, Mounds and Mound City applied for the grant through Barkett's independent York distributor, Artco Casket Co.

The York Foundation was established by the York Group and independent York distributors to provide assistance to children facing personal crises. The foundation has contributed money to various non-profit children's organizations in 48 states the past four years.
