A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., a stock brokerage firm, has earned the No. 1 ranking for one-year results of its asset allocation strategy for 1998, according to an investment study conducted by Wilshire Associates and Carpenter Analytical Services.
Asset allocation refers to an investment firm's recommended blend of stocks, bonds and cash.
"Last year's markets displayed some of the greatest volatility we have seen in some time," said Mark Keller, vice chairman of A.G. Edwards' investment strategy committee, adding that the firm's blend of investments help smooth out some of the bumps.
Keller will become chairman of the firm's investment committee March 1, when chairman and chief economist Raymond Worseck retires.
A.G. Edwards, headquartered at St. Louis, has more than 620 offices nationwide, including Cape Girardeau.
